Day 1 - Vertab: Vertical Tabs on Chrome
kataqatsi
After spending months using the Arc Browser, switching back to Chrome felt like a downgrade — all because of one feature I couldn’t live without: vertical tabs. Arc’s vertical tab design made managing open tabs intuitive and clutter-free, something Chrome’s default horizontal tabs just couldn’t match.
Determined to bring that experience to Chrome, I explored the Chrome Web Store for vertical tab extensions. Unfortunately, none of the existing options had the clean design or functionality I was looking for. Most felt clunky, visually outdated, or lacked customization.
So, I decided to build my own: Vertab.
What Makes Vertab Different?
Vertab is designed with simplicity, usability, and customization in mind. Here’s what sets it apart:
- Clean Layout: A sleek and intuitive design that feels modern and easy to use.
- Light & Dark Mode: Switch between light and dark themes to fit your browsing environment.
- Better Tab Management: See more tabs at once, making it easier to switch between or close them.
How It Works
After installing Vertab, your tabs are displayed in a vertical sidebar. You can:
- Click to Switch Tabs: Instantly navigate between open tabs.
- Close Tabs: Easily remove tabs you no longer need.
Why Build Vertab?
I built Vertab because I needed it. I wanted a vertical tab experience that looked and felt great — something minimal yet functional. By creating this extension, I brought back what I missed from Arc Browser while tailoring it to my own design preferences.
